298,663 Persons Receive Cancer Awareness

LAPO screened 298,663community members for cancer ailments in February, 2018 under the LAPO Community Campaign for Cancer Control (LAPO-C4) in Nigeria. In addition, 35,716 persons benefitted from information, enlightenment and education materials during the period.

The project is being implemented in Lagos, Imo, Abuja, Rivers and Edo state towards reducing cancer-related deaths in Nigeria. Itconsists of awareness creation, screening and referral services with the purpose of achieving preventionand early detection.

The Executive Director of LAPO, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo who said the project is aimed at mitigating the health and socio-economic implications of cancer, advised women to ascertain their health status regularly as breast and cervical cancer poses a serious threat to their lives.
