LAPO Empowers 302,647 Women with Free Health, Social Services
Lift Above Poverty Organization(LAPO) improved the health and social status of 302,647 women and other community members between January and October 2014, towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The Executive Director, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo who disclosed this during a periodic performance review session said 108,958 persons were screened for common diseases.
She added that people with special health conditions were referred to government-approved facilities for comprehensive treatment. Read More
LAPO Forum Tasks Govt On Good Governance, Poverty Reduction
Stakeholders at the 21st Annual LAPO Development Forum have enjoined government to focus their development strategies on poverty reduction through wealth creation.
In an 11-point communiqué issued at the end of the Forum which theme was “Governance, Poverty and Peace Building in Nigeria”, they contended that poverty reduction cannot be attained without income growth.
The Forum urged government to emulate the example of fast developing economies like China, fix weak and avoid over-dependence on crude oil to achieve desired changes. Read More
Prof Agbebaku, Others, Receive LAPO Outstanding Women Leadership Award
Professor (Mrs) Cordelia Agbebaku and two other distinguished Nigerian women, Gladys Elenotor and Stella Agwuna have been honoured with the prestigious LAPO Outstanding Women Leadership Award for the year 2014.
Prof. Agbebaku, the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State won under the Professional Category. Mrs Elenotor, MD, Ehi-Delta Foods and Mrs Agwuna, the proprietor of Happy Day School emerged winners under Business and Public Life Categories respectively. Read More
