LAPO Seeks End To Women Marginalization, Gender Inequality
LAPO has described the vulnerable conditions and marginalization of women in the society as a major factor limiting their ability to have a good life or attain their full potentials.
Speaking at the 4th Edition of the Outstanding Women Leadership Award in Benin City, the Founder, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe expressed worry that efforts of women have remained unrewarded and unrecognized even with their contributions to the survival of the society.
Ehigiamusoe stated that women constitute 50 percent of the country’s population yet faced with the challenges of gender inequality, domestic violence and lack of social protection, noting that there cannot be any meaningful development without the recognition and involvement of women.
He said Nigeria is one of the countries in Africa where women are increasingly facing challenges and discrimination merely due to their sexual makeup and negative perception, strengthened by archaic traditional and cultural practices.
