Sabina Idowu-Osehobo is Executive Director, Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the then Edo State University, Ekpoma (1991-1997) and a Diploma in Mass Communication. Before joining LAPO in 1999 as a Programme Officer, she worked with various media organizations including The Nigerian Observer and Here and There magazine as editor.
Sabina is skilful in the design and implementation of social and health programmes. A highly experienced trainer, she has attended several courses in Project Management, Community Home-Based Care and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (CHBC/ PMTCT) and HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) organized by USAID/Pathfinders International in Abuja in 2004. She has certificates in HIV/AIDS mainstreaming in the workplace, organisational development and management, information and communications, project management, people management, proposal development method and financial management for non-financial managers amongst others. Sabina is arrow head of the LAPO advocacy programme. She is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and National Consultative Forum on Women and AIDS.
Tessa Obiageli Anota-Aizebeokhai
Mrs. Tessa Anota-Aizebeokhai is Asistant General Manager with the organisation and heads the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) department. She holds a Master's degree in Public Health Education (MPHE) from the University of Benin in 2011, B.Sc. (Ed.) and diploma in Physical & Health Education from the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos (1996, 1991); Certificate in Health Social Sciences Implementation Research from the School of Public Health, University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana (2005); Certificate in Research Methodology from the Centre for Management Development, Shangisha, Lagos in 2008 and Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation of Donor-Funded projects in 2011.
She was trained by the British Department for International Development under the Capacity Building for Decentralised Development programme facilitated by the University of Reading, UK on Organisational development and management, Information and Communications, Project management, People management, Proposal development and financial management for non-financial managers. She also attended a training of trainers' workshop for NGO's on managing HIV/AIDS in the workplace organised by Academy for Educational Development USA, (Nigeria Office) and also on NGO management organised by Development Resource Foundation, a Ford Foundation/British Council Initiative. She worked with the Women's Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) as Programme Officer, Research and later Programme Officer, Media and Advocacy. She also worked with the Committee on Vital Environmental Resources (COVER) as Programme Coordinator as well as with the Development Communications Network (DEVCOMS), a Public Health Journalism NGO, as the Project Administrator before Joining LAPO in 2006 as Senior Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation. She has attended several training programme on Monitoring, Evaluation and Research with interest in conducting social sciences research. She is a seasoned trainer and has facilitated in many capacity building sessions in the area of proposal development, logical framework, NGO development, Monitoring and Evaluation etc, for NGOs/CBOs.
Honestus Ayobami Obadiora
Obadiora holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Master of Arts degree in Physical and Health Education of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. His degree projects are on the Evaluation of Primary Health Care (PHC) services in Ife Central Local Government (1994); and the use of correctional recreation in the psychological treatment and rehabilitation of drug dependents in Yaba and Aro-Abeokuta Psychiatric Hospitals (2003). Before joining LAPO in 2004, he worked for Adepetu Comprehensive College, Ile-Ife between 1997 and February 2004 during which he was a Classroom Teacher, Guidance Counselor and Senior Tutor (in charge of Junior Secondary School) at different levels. He was registered on 14th April, 2000 as an Examiner for Health Science by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). During his teaching career, he volunteered himself as a health educator responsible for developing IEC materials as well as training selected in-school youths across Ife zone as peer educators for Project on AIDS’ (PRAIDS), adolescent health and HIV/AIDS intervention programme supported by UNICEFand the Federal Ministry of Education between 2000 and 2002.
Mr. Obadiora who has risen to the position of Asistant General Manager joined LAPO in March 2004 as Head/Assistant Manager, Health Department. He has attended many trainings and seminars which include Entrepreneurship Development Programme organized by Small-Scale Enterprises Department, National Directorate of Employment, Nigeria (1995); Prevention and Management of Stress, Hypertension and Backpain, Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, April, (1999); Intensive Reproductive and Family Health Course, Department of Community Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria (2005); Building Better Lives: Planning and Implementation of Sustainable Integration of Microcredit and Health Education Programs, Microcredit Summit Campaign (MSC) (2005). Contraceptive Usage at Community Level organized by the Campaign Against Unwanted Pregnancy (CAUP) Lagos (2005); Community Home-based Care and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV (CHBC/ PMTCT) as well as HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT)organized by USAID/ Pathfinders International, Abuja (2004). Other conferences attended by Mr. Obadiora include Proposal Development; Human Resource Management for USAID Implementing Partners; Strategic Planning and Human Resource Management; Strategy to Execution; Financial Management; Project Management; Good Governance and Sustainable Development and Good Governance and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
He is a member of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD), Sports Psychology Association of Nigeria (SPAN). He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Development Administration, Nigeria (IDAN).
Philomena Irowa Elijah
Mrs. Philomena Irowa Elijah holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Secretarial Administration from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.
Before she joined LAPO in year 2000 as a Programme Officer, she worked in various capacities at Okungbowa and Sons, Benin City, Elf Oil Nigeria Ltd and Abia State Sports Council, Umuahia, amongst other engagements. Mrs. Elijah who has vast experience in programme conception, design and implementation has attended several training on Programme Implementation, Gender Mainstreaming, Enterprise and Skills Development in partnership with DFID, Illori (2004), Management of NGOs at the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Lagos (2007), Strategy to Execution at Phillip Business School West Africa (2009), Capacity Building for Local Empowerment organized by the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives, Warri (2012), study visit to BRAC, Bangladesh in year 2012 and many other numerous in-house training programmes. Mrs. Elijah has risen to the rank of Asistant General Manager and heads Social Development Department.
James-Wisdom A. Abhulimen is Manager, Advocacy and Communications Unit of LAPO. He holds a Master's degree in Communication Management from the Delta State University, Abraka (2010), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA) from the University of Benin (2006), Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu (1998) as well as a National Diploma in Mass Communication from the Federal Auchi, Polytechnic (1994) with academic research/interest focusing on the role of the print media in the control of HIV/AIDS among youths in Nigeria.
Prior to joining LAPO in 2002 as Media and Publication Officer, Abhulimen functioned as The Nation newspaper's Airport/Aviation Correspondent attached to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos State, as well as served at different times as editor and editorial board member of The Evangelist, a monthly newspaper published by the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City. He was one time Corporate Affairs Officer in DAAR Communications Limited, (Operators of African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower 100 FM) as well as coordinator of an international network, the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), Edo State chapter between 2006 and 2007. He has attended several professional development and exposure workshops organized by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), policy advocacy skill development training organized by CSACEFA in Abuja, Restorative Justice workshop organized by the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) in Benin City as well as several in-house proposal development, management and leadership training programmes.
A prolific writer with vast experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, Newspaper and Magazine Production and Social Change Advocacy, Abhulimen has authored and edited several articles on microfinance, poverty and development. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Edo State Chapter, where he has held several executive positions.
Omoyoma Erherherbraye Okagbare
Omoyoma Erherherbraye Okagbare is a Senior Programme Officer with the organization and heads the finance department. He has Master degrees in Banking and Finance (2011) and in Business Administration (2009) from the University of Benin as well as B.Sc. degree in Accounting (1999) from the same institution. He received professsional training on accounting, auditing, financial management and information technology at the Centre for Management Development (CMD) in 2010 and holds a professional Higher Diploma in Data Processing Management from the Institute of Commerce of Nigeria. (1995). He is an associate member of the Institute of Commerce of Nigeria, Institute of Cost Management and Chartered Institute of Economics of Nigeria. Before joining LAPO NGO in 2013, he was LAPO MfB's payroll manager.
Barr. Vera Asenoguan holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the then Edo State University Ekpoma 1999 as well as a Barrister-at-Laws degree (BL) from the Nigeria Law School, Bwari, Abuja. A member of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), she is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria having been called to the Nigeria Bar in the year 2001.
She worked in the Probate registry of Bayelsa State Judiciary from 2001 to 2002 and practiced law with Osaheni Uzamere and Osazee Ojo & Co. law firms between 2002 - 2005 and 2005 - 2007 respectively as a counsel. In 2007, she joined LAPO as head of administration department with an additional responsibility to provide free legal and litigation services to indigent women. She has attended several seminars both within and outside the legal profession and is currently a Principal Programme Manager with the organisation.
Omomfonmwan Florence holds a Master degree in Public Administration from the University of Benin, Benin City.
A certified banker, she has a Microfinance Banking Certificate from the Chartered instituted of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). She is a Senior Member of the Charted institute of Risk Management of Nigeria, Senior Member, Charted institute of Public Management and an Associate Member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria
Omomfonmwan joined Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) in July 2001 as a Client Support Officer and has worked in different capacities even within the LAPO Microfinance Bank. In 2013, she was appointed Manager of theLAPO Agricultural Rural Development initiative (LARDI).
She has attended several capacity training programmes locally and internationally including international training on Financial Service Officer (FSO) jointly organised by Small Enterprise Development Agency and International Network of Alternative Institution in Arusha, Tanzania between April 11th and 19th, 2005, Microfinance Winter Academy held between November 18th and 23rd 2012 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Mr. Udah Andrew holds a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Extension, a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGDBM) in Business Management and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agricultural Extension and Management. He joined LAPO in 2007 and currently heads the Social Marketing Unit ofthe organisation. Mr. Udah is a specialist in Community/Rural Development and has been involved in several rural development initiatives in LAPO which include value chain analysis of various crops and its implementation, Nigerian Agricultural Enterprise Curriculum Trainings for crop farmers and fishers, needs assessment of LAPO Microfinance(farmer) clients, assessment of marketing prospects of locally produce rice in Edo State and rural/agricultural financing.
